CBD Isolate vs. Full Spectrum CBD

There is a difference between the two main forms of cannabinoids - CBD Isolate and CBD Full Spectrum.

CBD Isolate is extracted from cannabis plants as a standalone product with no additional compounds included.

CBD Full Spectrum is made using a broader extraction process that contains more of the cannabis plant than just CBD alone.

Full spectrum CBD oil will contain terpenes, cannabinoids, flavonoids and fatty acids found in hemp - all of which have therapeutic value of their own and help create what is known as the “Entourage Effect.”

Additionally, CBD Full Spectrum does offer a small measure of THC, whereas CBD Isolate doesn't have any THC. It's not much - about 0.3% THC in Full Spectrum CBD.

Yet that could be enough to show up in the user's system. Although these occurrences have been found to be fairly unlikely, this could pose a problem if the user has to undergo a drug test . The U.S. military, law enforcement agencies, and emergency medical technicians, among other industries, routinely mandate drug testing.

What Type Of CBD Should You Use?

Every individual has different needs, and this determines which type of CBD is best-suited for their unique conditions.

CBD Isolate

The purest form of CBD, in which all other plant compounds and cannabinoids have been completely removed.

Best For:

  • Individuals who were recommended to specifically take high doses of CBD
  • Individuals with sensitivity to THC or other cannabinoids
  • Individuals who regularly undergo drug screening tests
  • Individuals living in states that have strict THC-laws
  • First-time users that may be hesitant about other cannabinoids

Full Spectrum CBD

CBD that has been extracted from the cannabis plant along with all the other compounds and cannabinoids.

Best For:

  • Individuals wanting to experience the diverse array of cannabinoids and terpenes to allow for a broader range of whole plant benefits.
  • Individuals who were recommended a certain THC to CBD ratio
  • Individuals with more severe conditions or conditions that CBD isolate could not alleviate
  • Individuals living in states where Cannabis is legal
